Methodology
What we publish
For each state: the agency that runs the unclaimed property program, its official website, a public phone number, and general guidance on searching and claiming. Where the agency itself publishes something specific — a new address, an automatic-payment program, a scam warning — we include it with a link to the source.
How links are checked
- Start from NAUPA's state directory.
- Compare NAUPA's two lists (search map and contact directory) for each state.
- Where they differ, or a link is generic or outdated, confirm the current address against the state agency's own pages or press releases.
- Record the date checked. The current directory was checked on November 4, 2026.
What we don't do
- We don't run name searches, store claimant records, or copy state databases.
- We don't collect your name, address or any identifying information.
- We don't accept payment from finders, and we don't guarantee that anyone has money waiting.
Limits
State programs change addresses, vendors and rules. Phone numbers listed are the ones published for the program; some states list separate numbers for claims and for business reporting. Guide content is general and isn't legal or financial advice. If anything here disagrees with the state's own site, the state's site is correct — and please tell us.
